As I leave my favorite conference of the year, Live 360, I am determined to get back to a project that I have started in the past several times but have never got off the ground. This year, I decided it was going to be different. So, Welcome to the Beginning.
Who am I, you ask? Let me introduce myself. Hi, I’m Derek Michals, a guy in his late forties that enjoys the outdoors and technology. I have over 20 years of experience in Information technology, starting as a hardware technician and working his way up. Now I spend most of my professional time working in Intune, Entra, Defender, and Azure. My personal time is a mixture of hanging out with my wife or going up to my property in the far northern part of Wisconsin and resetting myself by immersing myself in the wilderness.
So, what changed this year? Well, I finally decided to take a plunge and submit speaking ideas to be considered for a conference. Do I have any idea if I will be chosen, not at all, but I wanted to start this project for a few years, and what a great starting point as I reboot into my latest life’s patch. I can use it to launch two things at once.
What will I blog about? Well, it could be just about anything, but mostly about the tech, more specifically the various Microsoft platforms out there, things I find amusing, places I go, thoughts I have. Some things pictures may be ai generated, like the one used for this post, others will be my own. What won’t be ai generated is my words and thoughts. Am I nervous about all of this? Yes, it is outside my comfort zone, well outside. I once heard a quote “do hard things, and everything becomes easier.” I have found this to be very true in my life and try to operate 20% outside my comfort zone.
What’s that? How often will I post. Well, I’m busy with my day job, so I don’t have a ton of free time. I will be looking to post 1 original post a week, with my thoughts, ideas or things I think other IT Admins and Engineers might find useful. I suspect as I get rolling, there will be some quick links to other’s content that is helpful as well. Who knows for certain, but that’s my commitment.
Welcome again to Did You Reboot it.
